In the spirit of Halloween, I'm posting a drawing of a story idea I've had in my head for a month or two now: Pinokiller, a darkly comic fantasy that re-imagines the boy puppet Pinocchio as a psychotic murderer hellbent on revenge against his creator.
In a world of fairy tales gone horribly wrong, a creepy, not-so-humble woodcarver named Geppeto Phile dreams of having his own little boy to have his way with. But none of the women can stand him, and all the adoption centers have banned him. So he carves a crude wooden boy out of a gnarled tree stump and prays to dark forces to bring the puppet to life. While Geppeto is disappointed that the boy is still wood, he is still happy to have his own little boy. And so, the rude, crass, sadistic psychopath and compulsive liar, Pinocchio, was born.
Then, on the night the wooden boy was formed, Geppetto tries to rape Pinocchio while he is sleeping. While Pinocchio is mentally unstable to begin with, this event (along with learning the truth about why he exists shortly after) causes him to spiral into a completely psychotic state. He tries to axe Geppeto, but the latter manages to escape with his life. Later, Geppeto learns of a magical artifact in one of the fairy tale kingdoms that will give him the power to not only turn Pinocchio into a real boy, he will also be able to control the boy puppet along with everyone else in the world, and even bend reality itself as he sees fit. He immediately sets off to find it and gain everything he ever wanted.
Meanwhile, Pinocchio swears revenge on Geppeto. And with the help of a slutty fairy and a hard-boiled cricket, he sets off on his own single-minded quest to exact revenge by murdering Geppeto (while conveniently saving the world), and he will slaughter anyone who gets in his way....
Well, I'm done.
